About

Mwd0482Society has a way of blaming you for your body dissatisfaction.

For most of your life, cultural messages around thinness, body image, beauty norms, and health have convinced you that your body is a problem.

But it wasn’t always like this. As a toddler, you marveled at your toes and belly, fascinated by every part of yourself. Those parts weren’t good or bad; they were just present. Sometimes, they were even exciting.

When it came to eating, you confidently knew how much to eat to feel satisfied. Your caregivers didn’t tell you when to start and stop feeding – you just intuitively followed your hunger and fullness cues.

Don’t you wish you could get back to that wisdom?

Don’t worry, I got you.

I’m Meredith Blumenthal, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, and I help women like you discover that your “lack of self-control” and “willpower “is not the problem. Diets are.

The diet mentality is everywhere. It’s sneaky and always blames you. As we begin our work together, I help you identify how your diet mentality shows up – without judgment (or self-criticism!).

We’ll use the diet mentality as a framework to get curious about the belief that your self-worth depends on the size and shape of your body.

Mwd0237Let’s take the plunge together.

Liberating the mind, body, and soul from a lifetime of dieting is messy and unique to everyone.

When you start letting go of a lifelong battle with dieting, it can feel like freefalling. That’s why l prioritize holding space for the challenging emotions you experience when you embark on your anti-diet journey.

As we work together, we’ll explore the roots of your eating patterns, body dissatisfaction, and complicated relationship with food on a deep level. It won’t all be weighty (see what I did there?). I always make time for humor and love celebrating your wins and “ah-ha!” moments.

Break the restrict-binge cycle.

As we continue our work together, you’ll start to notice that by boldly honoring your cravings – and working through the guilt – you’ll finally stop ruminating about how “bad” you were yesterday.

I’ll help you understand ways to cope with your emotions without always turning to food. You’ll also gain tools that will allow you to make food choices that make you feel more confident in your body and support your health, lifestyle, and preferences.

Your hunger and fullness cues will start to normalize. You won’t feel deprived of the foods you enjoy most and will feel confident when satisfied.

Mwd0988Before I became a Nutrition Therapist…

…like you, I was a dieter for much of my life. From an early age, my sense of self-worth revolved around how I looked and what others thought about me. (I now realize this is something I learned through my experience of internalized gender roles and expectations. If only Little Me knew that!).

At 16, I decided I needed to lose the (completely normal) t pounds I quickly gained during puberty. I scrutinized every part of me, deciding which parts needed to be smaller, flatter, or thinner. I turned to dieting and started worrying about my body size and what I ate.

For many years, I constantly worried about what I was eating. I’d rehash the previous day’s meals and exercise routine, obsessing over whether I was bigger or smaller than yesterday. I hated what I saw in the mirror. My relationship with food was a mess, but deep down, my relationship with myself was a mess.

I know you must also feel this way because you wouldn’t still be here if you didn’t.

Don’t fret – I’m on your team.

You won’t get a traditional dietitian or healthcare provider who talks to you about the outdated and inaccurate theory of “Calories in, Calories Out.”

You’ll get someone who understands what you’re going through, with my own lived experience. Let me help you see that the way our culture views food and health is problematic, and there is another way.

Get past your feelings of powerlessness around food. Let me guide you toward eating intuitively on your terms.

The wisdom has always been yours.

Healing begins when we start to lean on one another. Trusting your body’s wisdom and letting it guide your choices with food takes courage and willingness to sit in the messy middle.

If you’re ready to embrace the edge of your comfort zone and discover lasting transformation, I’m GAME.

About Me

AdminLove, your Diet Divorcee!

If you insist on knowing more about me, I’m a Seattle native who loves food, French wine, and travel. I have a Bachelor of Science in psychology, so I understand how vital mental health, social connection, and authentic relationships are for our overall health and well-being.

I’m also a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by training, with a Master of Science in Nutrition from the University of Washington (don’t ask me how I got through all those math and science classes!). That means I have a scientific understanding of how the body manages weight and appetite, and I truly understand how our relationship with food can help or hinder our health.

Sparked by an interest in learning about eating disorders and chronic dieting, I received an introduction to the Intuitive Eating framework during my graduate studies. Now, I’m more of a Relational Nutrition Therapist and Intuitive Eating coach.

When I’m not working or traveling…

…you’ll find me hanging with my partner and our best pal, Lucy, The Golden Retriever. In the summer, you might catch me on a boat, going for a float, drinking rosé on a patio with friends, and laughing at my jokes.
